Essay Writing Contests: Under Pressure
Have you joined an essay writing contest before? There are two kinds of such contest: on-the-spot and the otherwise take-home contest.
Obviously, the on-the-spot essay writing contests cause more pressure on the writer because it is difficult to write under time pressure, as well as the pressure of being in a specific place. The place might not be conducive for writing. The writer might not be able to do his or her “rituals”.
Essay papers take the writers time – from coming up with a topic to finishing the written work. Writers are at an advantage in take-home contests since they can write at any position with rituals done freely.
Also, when asked for an opinion essay, writers may need to research. This activity usually cannot be done during on-the-spot writing contests, since these contests only require strict writing.
However, essay writing contests are worth the effort since joining such is already a prestige.
